We’re Gonna Need More Wine…Literally

Looking to wind down after a long day? One of the best ways is to relax, relate, and release is to grab a good book, a glass of wine, and find a quiet corner to curl up.  Years of research shows that there are many health benefits to drinking at least one glass per day.  We’re going to dig in to see which wine is most beneficial, and what the benefits are.

Best Type of Wine to Drink:

White or Red?  While we may love a great glass of white wine, research has shown that Red wine is most beneficial to drink.  Unlike white wine, red wine is fermented with grape skins, seeds and stems which produces a host of compounds that promote good health.

Benefits of Drinking Red Wine:

The absolute best part of the article. Here are the benefits of drinking one glass per day.

Rich in Antioxidants.

So….What are antioxidants exactly?  They’re compounds that prevent cellular damage caused by inflammation and stress.  The antioxidants in the wine are build by the grapes which have high levels of polyphenols. Consuming higher levels of antioxidants decrease your risk of Alzheimers and Parkinson’s disease.

Heart Health

Red wine  has been linked to reducing the formation of blood clots.  The antioxidants work to reduce the formation of blood clots. Studies also revealed that individuals who consume wine have lower blood pressure and metabolic diseases. Red wine also helps prevent artery damage caused by (bad) high cholesterol.

Mental Health

It’s not a coincidence that drinking wine is a common way to wind down after a stressful day. A study in the journal Neuropharmacology suggests that the resveratrol in red wine could help ease anxiety and depression.
