Michelle Obama Shares Sweet Tribute To Mom on Twitter For Mother’s Day
Someone pass the tissues.
Our former FLOTUS has us in our feelings after the sweet message she posted on social media in honor or her mother Marian Robinson. The sweet message was posted with an outtake from the filming of her Netflix documentary, ‘Becoming.’ The clip recalled what the former first lady stated was a “reflection on the lessons that my mom taught me and my brother Craig.”
She often credits her mother for her own strength and ambition which she noted in her tribute on Twitter.
Growing up, my mom taught me and Craig to never be afraid to speak up, ask questions, and live our truths. She laid out the blueprint for how I’ve raised my own girls. Mom, you’re my rock and my best friend, and you’ve been a guiding light throughout my life. #IAmBecoming pic.twitter.com/x2q6u52gqU

“When we were growing up, she always gave us the space to ask questions and share our ideas,” she added. “And she always took us seriously, carefully considering what we had to say and responding with thoughtful questions, and plenty of encouragement.”
“All along, she was empowering us to be ourselves, kindling the unique flame burning inside each of us,” Obama continued. “She laid out the blueprint for how I have raised my own girls.”
In the clip, Obama asked her what the “secret” was behind raising a boy and a girl.
“There is no secret.” Ms. Robinson replied.
“I had fun with my kids,” she added later. “I just couldn’t wait to see what they were going to come in and say next, because it was always something.”
Becoming made it’s debut to Netflix on May 6th.
